The Punjab government says it is working on a new system to identify incidents of stubble burning. Currently, the number of incidents of stubble burning is counted, but from next year the area will be counted in terms of acres of stubble burned. Additionally, the government says action has been taken against more than 100 officials who did not work properly to stop stubble burning.
