Maulvi Sajjad Nomani
After the BJP’s excellent victory in Maharashtra, All India Ekta Forum president and Islamic preacher Maulvi Sajjad Nomani’s tone changed. He apologized for his statement of boycotting Muslims supporting the BJP in Maharashtra. Sajjad said that my statement was not against any society nor was it a fatwa in any way. Still, if anyone’s feelings have been hurt, I take back my words and apologize unconditionally. Maulvi Sajjad has written a detailed apology.
Sajjad Nomani said that my statement of boycotting Muslims who support the BJP is much discussed at the moment. This statement of mine is from September 2024, much before the Lok Sabha elections. I gave this statement in response to many people’s questions in a special context. These were the people who were prevented from exercising their fundamental right to vote in the Lok Sabha elections. This statement of mine was for those who were preventing the common citizen of India from exercising their constitutional right to vote. This statement of mine was not at all for any society nor was it any kind of fatwa. If my statement has hurt anyone’s feelings, I apologize for that.
What did Maulan Sajjad Nomani say?
Before the Maharashtra elections, Maulan Sajjad Nomani had said that we had decided to support Maha Vikas Aghadi candidates in 269 seats. In a video, he had appealed not to vote for the BJP. He said that you should boycott the BJP. Sajjad said if anyone in your area votes for the BJP, then boycott it everywhere. Turn off the water on your hookah. Nomani further said that if the BJP is defeated in Maharashtra, the Delhi government will not last long. Vote for Jihar Markaz and you should support Maha Vikas Aghadi. Support Uddhav, Sharad, Rahul and Nana Patole. There was quite a stir after Sajjad made this statement.
