Violence broke out during the Shahi Jama Masjid poll on Sunday (November 24) in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh. However, the situation is now under control. Four people also died in this violence. A public interest litigation has been filed before the Allahabad High Court in this matter. This petition demands a CBI probe under the chairmanship of a retired High Court judge. Apart from this, the petition also demands an investigation into the role of the collector and the SP as well as the officers involved.
In this petition filed by a person named Anand Prakash Tiwari through lawyers Imran Ullah and Vineet Vikram, it is also demanded that a complete investigation be carried out from Sambhal’s Jama Masjid study till now. In addition to this, a special investigation team headed by a retired High Court judge has sought investigation into the role of Moradabad zone divisional commissioner, Sambhal district magistrate and superintendent of police and other officials in the incident.
The petition alleges administrative negligence and the role of local officials in this violence. Along with this, it has also been asked to lay down necessary guidelines on the role and responsibilities of district officials for cooperation in the study of religious monuments or sites in future. On November 24, violence broke out in Sambhal after a team led by an advocate commissioner conducted a survey at the Mughal-era Jama Masjid. This survey was conducted by order of a local court.

Last Sunday, violence broke out during a reconnaissance of the mosque. During this time, four people were killed and another 25 injured in the clash between protesters and police. Although the situation in the city has almost normalized, traders in the markets near the mosque say they are facing losses following the incident. The biggest losses were suffered by the owners of bullion shops located in the bullion market located half a kilometer from the mosque.

31 accused arrested so far
Since Sunday’s violence, police have been continuously arresting the accused. During the entire matter, the police have registered seven cases and 31 people have been arrested so far. Which also includes many women.
