Chandigarh Haryana Health and Family Welfare Minister Kumari Aarti Singh Rao today inaugurated a workshop to train health professionals on new approaches for the treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. Speaking on the occasion, Kumari Aarti Singh Rao said that this workshop is an important step. to further strengthen the state’s fight against multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. We must ensure that health services follow the latest treatment protocols and adopt best practice in the treatment and care of patients.
He said there is a great need to improve the capacity of health workers to deal with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR TB). This issue is one of the country’s most challenging public health problems.
The Minister of Health highlighted the State Government’s commitment to improving the diagnosis, treatment and outcomes of tuberculosis and spoke especially of the challenges related to drug resistance. He also emphasized on community participation during the Nikshay camp. He said community participation would be very helpful in finding cases of tuberculosis.
The Health Minister said that the State Government will continue to organize training camps and provide all necessary resources to effectively tackle MDR tuberculosis.
On this occasion, MLA Dr. Krishna Kumar, in his speech, gave detailed information about the history of tuberculosis control programme. He appealed to all stakeholders to actively contribute to the noble cause of tuberculosis eradication.
Shri Sudhir Rajpal, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, also addressed the participants and urged all stakeholders to work collaboratively to achieve the goal of eliminating tuberculosis. He reiterated that the fight against tuberculosis is a collective responsibility. Better training, timely diagnosis, and patient-centered care are solid ways to ensure success in this discipline.
