Chandigarh: Congress’ electoral performance in Maharashtra and Haryana has raised serious questions about the party’s strategy and leadership. The unexpected results in both states have further intensified internal factionalism in Congress. Especially in Haryana, the selection of opposition leader has become a big issue, which is becoming a symbol of dissatisfaction and backwardness within the party.

A fierce fight is going on in Haryana between the factions of former chief minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda and Kumari Selja. Bhupendra Singh Hooda is held responsible for the defeat in the assembly elections, while his supporters advocate making him the leader of the opposition based on his experience. On the other hand, Shailaja’s Randeep Surjewala faction is putting forward the names of leaders like Chandramohan and Ashok Arora. Raghubir Singh Kadian’s name is also in discussion in this race.

The Congress recently faced a defeat in Maharashtra, which also raised questions about the party’s national leadership capabilities. The similarity of party strategy and factional struggle in both states has put Congress leaders in front of a double challenge.

Experts believe that after the election results in Maharashtra and Haryana, there is a lack of clarity regarding leadership and organization within the party. The delay in the election of the opposition leader increases discontent among workers and damages the party’s image.

Not only that, although the party’s state president Uday Bhan raises doubts about the EVMs, under his leadership the party not only had to face problems but also could not save its outfits. Therefore, there is a doubt or a mark on Udaybhan’s leadership. Udaybhan is also believed to be the man who says yes to Bhupendra Singh Hooda. In such a situation, the opposition vote demands changes in the opposition leader and the new state president.
