chhath puja story
According to the story related to Chhath festival, it is said that King Priyavrat had no children, so he used to be very upset and sad. Once, Maharishi Kashyap asked the king to perform a yagya to have a son. Following the orders of Maharaj ji, the king performed the yagya, after which the king had a son, but unfortunately that child was stillborn. The king, queen, and their family members were even more saddened by this. Then Mother Shashthi came from heaven.
The king prayed to him and then Goddess Shashthi came before him and said, ‘I am Shashthi Devi, the mental daughter of Brahma. I protect all children in this world and provide children’s happiness to those who do not have children. After this, the goddess blessed the king’s dead son and laid her hand on him, which instantly brought him back to life. Seeing this, the king became very happy and started worshiping goddess Shashthi. It is said that only after this the ritual of worshiping Chhathi Mata began.
