Union Minister Nitin Gadkari
Just before the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari made a big claim. Gadkari has said that the Congress had made changes in the Constitution during the Indira Gandhi government. Addressing an election rally in Wakad, Gadkari said that during the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress Party had said that if the BJP wins more than 400 seats, it will change the Constitution. The Constitution is an important part of India’s democracy.
Gadkari stated that no one can change the Constitution. The reality is that the Constitution was changed during the government of Indira Gandhi. When his election was declared illegal by the Allahabad High Court. The Congress Party then made changes in the Constitution made by Baba Saheb Ambedkar for their benefit. He said those who once violated the Constitution are using it to spread misinformation and confuse people during elections.
Gadkari said the Congress only gives slogans of ‘Garibi Hatao’. In reality, during his rule, the poor only faced problems; Even today, wherever Congress is, the poor are in trouble. During the Congress government, many programs like 8-point, 20-point and 40-point initiatives were launched with the slogan ‘Garibi Hatao’, but unfortunately, poverty persisted among farmers, workers, Dalits and Muslims.
