Rahul Gandhi and Congress Party national president Mallikarjun Kharge
After the results of any election, questions about EVMs often arise. All opposition parties have been alleging electoral fraud through the EVMs. Congress has long demanded that elections be held by ballot. Now the Congress seems to be getting the support of the Indian Alliance parties on the EVM issue. In such a situation, the opposition is preparing to draw up a roadmap to confront the government on this issue.
In fact, in the year 2018, when Rahul Gandhi became Congress president, one of the resolutions passed was to hold elections through ballot papers instead of EVMs. However, by sometimes speaking and sometimes remaining silent, Congress could not take a straight line and this proposal was shelved. Now once again Congress has raised this issue.
Announcement of movement regarding voting ballots
After winning 99 seats in the Lok Sabha elections held in the year 2024, when the Congress suffered a crushing defeat in the Haryana and Maharashtra Assembly elections, the party along with the Election Commission once again blamed the EVMs for the defeat. He again raised questions about electronic machines. Meanwhile, on the occasion of Constitution Day on November 26, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge once again demanded elections by ballot. He openly announced that he would protest this.

Talks to be held with Indian alliance parties
After this announcement by Kharge, those people within the party who used to say that the EVMs were fine also fell silent. Congress leader Karti Chidambaram said in this regard that he had only given his opinion, but now everything the president said is the party line and will be considered. After this announcement by the Congress, efforts have been made to unite the Indian Alliance parties on this issue. TMC, which was absent from the meeting of parliamentary leaders including Samajwadi Party, JMM, NCP-Sharad faction and Shiv Sena-UBT, also agreed on this issue.
However, to create a strong bond between the Indian alliance on this issue, Kharge and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi will talk to top leaders of all parties. Before that, the Congress Party will discuss its roadmap at the Working Committee meeting on the 29th. Regarding this issue, all Parchi leaders have been instructed to remain on one line. After this meeting, Congress will share its roadmap with Indian Alliance leaders and take their suggestions. After this, the final touches will be given on how to take this issue forward.
