Former Bharatiya Janata Party MP Poonam Mahajan on Thursday said she will write a letter to the Union Home Minister and the Maharashtra Home Minister demanding an inquiry into the murder of her father and late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan.
In an exclusive interview given to Aaj Tak, Poonam Mahajan stated that she smells some conspiracy behind her father’s death. He said there could be ulterior motives behind the dismissal that led to his father’s death.
She further said that when this incident occurred in 2006, she was not in a position to raise doubts about him, but she always had doubts about his death. Now that his party is in power both at the Center and in the state, he recalled an incident and said he would write to both Amit Shah and Devendra Fadnavis demanding a thorough investigation into the matter to find out the truth.
The BJP leader was assassinated in 2006.
On April 22, 2006, Pramod Mahajan was shot dead by his brother Praveen Mahajan at his Worli residence in Mumbai following a dispute. Praveen fired four bullets and then surrendered at the nearby police station. On October 30, 2007, he was sentenced to life imprisonment.
Also in early 2022, Poonam had hinted that there was a mastermind behind her murder and that there was more than a family feud, which needed to be exposed.
Who is Poonam Mahajan?
Poonam Mahajan joined the BJP in 2006 after the murder of her father Pramod Mahajan. In 2009, he first contested the Ghatkopar West parliamentary elections but lost. In 2014, he defeated Congress’s Priya Dutt from the North Central Mumbai seat.
