The Hindu side scored a major victory in the civil court in the controversial Jama Masjid case, situated as a heritage site in Sambhal town, land of incarnation of Kalki, the tenth incarnation of Lord Vishnu in western Uttar Pradesh. The court has ordered a probe by a judicial commissioner of the royal Jama Masjid of Sambhal.
The Hindu side had claimed to have a temple in place of the Shahi Jama Masjid of Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh. A petition was filed in court in this regard. Hindus claim that the building belongs to the mythological temple of Harihar, while during Islamic rule it was given the form of a mosque.
The building is under the supervision of ASI.
A claim was filed in the district court that Shri Harihar temple existed instead of Jama Masjid in Sambhal district of UP. However, at present the disputed building is under the supervision of ASI i.e. Archaeological Survey of India. According to sources, prayers are offered there five times a day, but entry to non-Muslims is prohibited.
As per the decision of Sambhal civil judge (higher division), the court commissioner i.e. advocate commissioner was asked to conduct the survey of Shahi Masjid. The court says this will make it easier to do justice in the dispute.
District administration called in additional forces
The court has taken this decision on the request of lawyer Harishankar Jain. In its order, the court has said that photographs and videos of the survey should also be taken. According to the petitioner’s lawyer Vishnu Shankar, the judicial commissioner’s inspection of Shahi Masjid may begin this afternoon. In view of this, the district administration has summoned additional forces.
