Not even Singham understood this term ‘Generation Z’.
Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan is in news these days for his film ‘Singham Again’. This ‘Endgame’ from Rohit Shetty’s police universe is being liked a lot. The film is full of action, which is why people like it, however, the makers’ idea of showing the references and characters of Ramayana in this film has not been that successful. Many people believe that even if there was no reference to Ramayana in this film, this film would have worked, in fact, it would have worked better.
In the film, the characters of Singham and his wife are shown to be middle-aged. These characters have been played by Kareena Kapoor and Ajay Devgan. They are both proud parents of a 17-18 year old son. Many Genji terms have been used many times in the movie, after knowing their meaning even Singham starts scratching his head. Viren Vazirani has played the role of Singham’s on-screen son. For those who don’t remember Viren’s work, Viren is the actor who played the role of Veer in Sushmita Sen’s ‘Arya’.
Gen-z term from the Genji world
Viren’s character Shorya feels that her parents should give her some privacy. Through Viren’s character Shorya, an entire generation has been told in the film that the Ramayana is not just a story, but the story of India. While Kareena Kapoor’s character ‘Avni’ in the film wants to connect her son with her culture, Shorya also tells Avni and Singham what is happening in their Zen world these days. Shorya tells her father the meaning of many of those terms that today are called Genji terms and the children in our house also use these terms, but we don’t understand those things exactly like Singham.
Singham starts scratching his head after listening to the talks.
Ajay Devgan’s character Singham understands the meaning of various terms like banking, ghost, his son’s situation and then analyzes them while having tea with Ravi Kishan’s character. He says my son has a girlfriend, then Ravi Kishan says, as soon as he leaves, that he is in a relationship. Responding to this, Ajay’s character says no, he is in a situation. Then Ajay says what is this? Then Ajay tries to explain them but he can’t explain them completely, similarly Ravi Kishan tells them the meaning of ghost that in this suddenly someone disappears while talking. After this, the meaning of the sideboard is explained, but even after understanding a lot, both characters cannot fully understand why everything is so complicated in this generation.
We can learn something from this scene.
This aspect of the film shows a different type of perspective. Many times, the things we don’t know, no matter how special they are to our loved ones and they explain them to us, but they still seem quite strange to us. The simple philosophy behind this is that just as it is difficult for our Millennial generation and later people to understand Genji’s words, in the same way it may be difficult for Genji to understand some of the things of our generation.
