New Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Monday inspected the arrangements at ITO Ghat for Chhath Puja and announced that preparations for Chhath Ghats are underway at over 1,000 sites across the city. Atishi said that today Chhath Ghats are being constructed at more than 1,000 places in the city. All our ministers and MLAs are inspecting the Chhath Ghats. I urge the BJP not to play politics in Chhath Puja.
The Chief Minister said that the festival of Chhath is very important for the Purvanchali brothers and sisters and we have been celebrating this festival with great pomp all over Delhi for the last 10 years. He said that 10 years ago, the government celebrated Chhath festival in only 60 places in Delhi, but today the Delhi government has prepared more than 1000 wonderful Chhath Ghats where everyone will be able to worship Chhathi Maiya properly. Along with this, he said that on the other hand, stopping Chhath Puja through Kachchhvak’s Shashtra in Chirag Delhi shows Kchchhvak’s anti-Purvanchal mentality.
Chhath Puja, a sun worship festival celebrated in several states in India and internationally, will be celebrated from November 5 to 8 this year. In a related development, MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj continued to criticize the BJP and accused it of preventing devotees from offering puja at specific sites in the capital. He alleged in X Post that Chirag Delhi has become the Chhath Ghat cantonment. After the police, a CRPF battalion is now also present. If the public is with the BJP, why is there so much fear?
Earlier, the Delhi Chief Minister criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party for playing cheap politics, alleging that the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) was preventing Purvanchalis from celebrating Chhath Puja by keeping the doors closed. It is important to note that the DDA is a statutory body under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. AAP leader Atishi alleged that the DDA was restricting people’s access to Chhath Ghat in Greater Kailash. Earlier, recognizing the importance of Chhath Puja for the residents of Delhi, Atishi had declared November 7 as a public holiday in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi.
