Delhi Pollution: Rising pollution in capital, smog shadow during day

Drivers had to turn on their lights during the day, people were worried about the rise in temperature

Delhi Pollution (Aaj Samaj), New Delhi: The pollution problem in the capital Delhi is continuously increasing. On the one hand, a thick layer of smoke has accumulated in the atmosphere. Now the smog has started to spread even during the day. Something similar was seen on Thursday. Visibility was reduced due to smog on the roads and drivers had to turn on their lights.

On the other hand, due to pollution, there was an increase in temperature, due to which people had to face problems. According to the Meteorological Department, visibility was recorded at 800 meters at IGI airport and 1,000 meters at Safdarjung at 7.30 am. Skies are likely to remain clear during the day. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no chance of the weather changing much in the next few days.

AQI recorded in critical condition

AQI in Delhi has remained in critical condition for the last 20 days. The AQI registers around 400 in most places. Also on Thursday, the air quality was recorded in severe category at nine major places in the capital: Anand Vihar, Ashok Vihar, Bawana, Jahangirpuri, Mundka, Rohini, Sonia Vihar, Vivek Vihar and Wazirpur.

The Environment Minister of Delhi has made this demand.

Due to rising pollution in the capital, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai demanded the central government to provide artificial rain. Gopal Rai had said that the Central government should intervene to address the growing pollution problem in Delhi. Sunita Narayan, former member of EPCA and director general of CSE, said artificial rain is not the solution to pollution.

Artificial rain cannot be produced in entire Delhi. At the same time, natural clouds are also necessary for artificial rain. In winter there are no clouds. Secondly, pollution will increase due to some rains. Even if more artificial rain is created, the pollution will return after a week. In such a situation, partial relief cannot be a solution while spending so much.
