According to the FIR lodged at Jagat Puri police station, on February 26, 2020, a crowd had gathered at Masjidwali Gali in Khureji Khas area of northeast Delhi. According to the prosecution, Khalid Saifi and former Congress councilor Ishrat Jahan had instigated the illegal meeting. In January this year, the trial court ordered charges against Khalid Saifi, Ishrat Jahan and 11 others related to attempt to murder, rioting and illegal assembly.
Charges in this case were formally filed during the month of April. However, all 13 have been acquitted of charges of criminal conspiracy, aiding and abetting and common intention and under the Arms Act.
