IPL 2025 Mega Auction
In the IPL 2024 mega auction, a lottery was held for three star players, who are out of the Indian T20 team. These include KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Yuzvendra Chahal. These players have fetched a huge amount in the auction and have become rich. Shreyas Iyer and Rahul are also likely to become captains. Both players were also captains in their previous franchises.
1. KL Rahul
KL Rahul is out of the Indian T20 International team. He played the last T20 international match for the Indian team against England in the year 2022. Only after that he did not get the opportunity to play the T20I match. After this, Rahul was not even retained by the Lucknow Super Giants team in IPL retention. Even before this there was a possibility that he would leave for another team. There was a bidding war between RCB and KKR to buy KL Rahul in the IPL mega auction. After this, Delhi Capitals also joined the fray. Finally, Delhi Capitals bought Rahul by paying Rs 14 crore. Rahul has not been able to act according to his name for some time now. He has so far scored 4683 runs in 132 IPL matches.
2. Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer is out of the Indian T20 team due to his poor form. Until now, he played the last T20 international match for the Indian team in the year 2023. It was under Iyer’s captaincy that the Kolkata Knight Riders team won the IPL 2024 title. But still the KKR team did not retain him. After this, money rained down on him at the auction. Punjab bought Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore, while his base price was just Rs 2 crore. There are high chances of him becoming the captain of Punjab Kings.
3. Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal is currently out of the Indian T20 team. The last T20 international match for the Indian team was played in the year 2023. But now it has fetched a huge amount in the auction. The Punjab Kings team bought him for 18 million rupees. Chahal, the most successful bowler of IPL, also had to participate in the mega auction because Rajasthan Royals had released him ahead of IPL 2025. Chahal is the highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL. He has taken 208 wickets in 160 IPL matches.
