The AQI crossed 400. Officials said Delhi’s air quality index was recorded at 391 around 6 am today.

- Very bad between 301 and 400
- Critical between 401 and 450
Fireworks will be banned on January 1 next year.
A real-time AQI of 186 was recorded in the capital around 5pm on Thursday. In a few hours the air went from normal to very poor. Notably, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee has imposed a ban on stocking and manufacturing of firecrackers, as well as bursting them, in the capital from January 1 next year. Despite this, people did not agree and broke crackers, which will surely add to the already increasing pollution.
