(Dharamshala News) Today Samaj-Dharamshala. The five-day Dhauladhar India Precision Paragliding Cup-2024 concluded at the Narwana paragliding site near Dharamshala on Wednesday. In the Dhauladhar Precision Paragliding Cup India-2024, Akshay of India won the first position in the men’s category and Tarannum Thakur of India won the first position in the women’s category while the Fly in Sky team of India won first position in the team category.
In the men’s category of the Dhauladhar Precision Paragliding Cup India-2024, Akshay Kumar from Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, India was awarded a trophy and 1000 euros for taking first place with 106 points. David Contreras Lázaro from Spain received a trophy and 750 euros for coming second with 120 points and Aman Thapa from Nepal received a trophy and 500 euros for coming third with 125 points.
Until round 11, the Spanish David Contreras Lázaro was leading and the Indian Akshay Kumar was in second position. There was a difference of only 6 points between the two participants, in round 12 Akshay Kumar took 5 points and David Contreras Lázaro from Spain took 25 points, so Akshay Kumar from India became the winner by leading by 14 points .
In the women’s category, Tarannum Thakur of India came first with 633 points, Alisha Katoch came second with 1643 points and Jean of the USA came third with 3282 points.
In the team event, the Indian Flying in Sky team received a trophy and 600 euros for coming first with 488 points, the Kazakhstan team received a trophy and 400 euros for coming second with 1221 points and the Indian team received a trophy and 400 euros. for finishing third with 1363 points, but they were given candy and 200 euros.
At the closing ceremony, Dharamshala MLA Sudhir Sharma participated as chief guest and honored the participants with trophies and cash.
After honoring the winners, MLA Sudhir Sharma said that a plan is now being worked on to organize the World Cup in Narwana, Dharamshala.
He said work is on to develop Dharamshala as an adventure sports centre. However, some works are being delayed by the government.
The Precision Cup was organized by Himachal Pradesh Adventure Sports Federation (ASF) and Narwana Adventure Club (Narwana Paragliding Association). Pilots from India, Indian Army, Air Force, Assam Rifle, Spain, Kazakhstan, Nepal and the United States participated in the Precision Cup.
Youngsters should enter competition: Tarannum Thakur
The winner of the women’s category, Tarannum Thakur, said that the Narwana site is very good in terms of accuracy. Regarding young people, he said that young people must guarantee their participation in this type of competitions. Commercial flights must be reduced and the level raised by participating in these types of events.
India’s Alisha Katoch, second in the women’s category, said she couldn’t do well this time. He said that he will prepare again with all his effort for the next competition and that he will try to do well so that what I missed this time I will not do again.
Akshay has been flying since 2017
Akshay, the winner of the men’s category, said he has been flying since 2017. Akshay, who came to Dharamshala to fly for the second time, had also flown in Ladakh and Shimla earlier. The government will be asked to support young people who are taking up adventure sports.
