Dhaka: Amid a huge controversy over the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das on treason charges, ISKCON Bangladesh on Thursday disassociated itself from Chinmoy Krishna Das. ISKCON has said its actions “do not represent” the religious organization. ISKCON Bangladesh general secretary Charu Chandra Das Brahmachari said that Chinmoy Prabhu has been removed from all positions in the organization for breach of discipline and that the activities carried out by him are not ISKCON activities.
Unfounded accusations are made against the organization.
Charuchandra Das Brahmachari Brahmachari said that recently there has been a sustained effort to spread false and fabricated propaganda about ISKCON Bangladesh, focusing on the Bangladesh Samyukta Sanatani Jagran Jot movement. Since the change of government through a mass revolt on August 5, some people have been trying to create instability in society by making misleading statements and unfounded accusations to make our organization controversial.
Sad death of Saiful Islam
Charuchandra Das said that especially after the tragic death of prominent Chittagong lawyer Saiful Islam Alif, this effort has reached its peak. There is an attempt to wrongly blame ISKCON Bangladesh for the undesirable incident that took place in front of the Chittagong court building. We wish to clarify that ISKCON Bangladesh is not involved in such brutal incidents or the ongoing agitation.
Demand to ban ISKCON is unfair
Charuchandra Das Brahmachari said that lies have reached such a level that even issues like road accidents are imposed in the name of ISKCON. We have already clarified this matter several times through press conferences and at different levels of government and administration. But unfortunately some people are deliberately spreading false propaganda against our organization and raising unreasonable demands such as banning ISKCON.
