Dispute between Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah mosque

The hearing on 15 petitions related to the Mathura dispute between Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah will be held in the Allahabad High Court tomorrow, Wednesday. In this case, the High Court on October 23 rejected the revocation petition of the Muslim party, which was filed challenging the order of January 11, 2024. These petitions will be heard by a single bench of Justice Vivek Verma.

During the last hearing, the High Court, while delivering its verdict on the Muslim party’s revocation petition, rejected their claim. The single bench of Justice Mayank Kumar had said that the High Court will hear all 15 petitions together. After the court’s order, the trial in this case will now begin.

Welcoming this decision of the court, the Hindu side accused the Muslim side of keeping the case pending and said that they do not want the case to be heard. After the court order, the trial in this case will now begin.

The Hindu side had filed a petition.

In the case of Shahi Idgah and Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi, the Hindu side claims that this Idgah was built by demolishing the temple. The Hindu side has filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court demanding the right of Hindus to pray at this place. In the petitions filed by the Hindu side in the court, it is said that the mosque was built on 13.37 acres of land of the Katra Keshav Dev temple. The Hindu side also says that the two and a half acres of land in dispute is the shrine . sanctorum of the birthplace of Shri Krishna.

The argument from the Muslim side

The Muslim side maintains that there was an agreement between the two sides on this land in 1968, and now it is not justified to invalidate this agreement. The Muslim side also cites the Places of Worship Law of 1991, according to which the form of any place of worship cannot be changed after 1949.
