The festival of Bhai Dooj is celebrated on Kartik Shukla Dwitiya Tithi. On this day sisters apply tilak on their brother’s forehead. After Tilak, the sisters pray for their brother and also wish for long life. The brother who applies Tilak to his sister on this day does not die prematurely.
