Google Trends data shows that Trump became the most searched US presidential candidate in India. Tamil Nadu was the only state where Kamala Harris was searched more than Trump. Kamala Harris has her ancestral roots in Tamil Nadu and her relatives still live there, so there was more curiosity about her there.

Donald Trump was searched more than 2 million times in the last week, while Kamala Harris had a strong presence in southern states and was searched more than a million times in one week. More searches for Harris on Google Trends were done in cities like Chennai, Bengaluru and Vellore.

Trump was the most searched in almost all the states of India, while in Tamil Nadu there was special curiosity about Kamala Harris. Trump’s popularity peaked in northeastern states like Delhi, Gurugram and Noida, where more than 73% and 70% of people searched about Trump, respectively. While in Vellore, Bengaluru and Chennai, more than 80% people showed interest in Harris.

In the last seven days, ‘US Election Results 2024’ became the second most searched topic on Google, which was searched more than 20 lakh times in India.

Other trending searches

Interestingly, ‘Robert Kennedy’ was also included in the Google trending list. He was searched more than 2 lakh times in India. In Trump’s victory speech, he praised his old rival and new ally, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s name and hinted at an important role for him.
