The DRI (Directorate of Revenue Intelligence) has made a big revelation about the smuggling of foreign gold in the Muzaffarpur bullion market. Late on Friday night, the DRI team raided ‘Fine Gold’ located at Purani Bazaar and arrested bullion trader Ramkumar Gupta. Patna DRI took this action after questioning the gold smuggler who was caught earlier.
According to information, Patna DRI had seized foreign gold worth Rs 75 lakh from Katihar Junction on September 5. Apart from this, on August 5, gold biscuits worth approximately Rs 2.5 million were recovered from Mokama crossing.
The smugglers arrested in both the cases revealed during interrogation that these incidents were related to the Muzaffarpur bullion market. On this basis, DRI raided the shop of Krishna Gupta and his nephew Ramkumar Gupta at PN Market located at Purani Bazaar in Muzaffarpur.

As soon as the DRI team raided the shop. During this, there was a commotion among the people nearby. Many merchants immediately lowered their shutters. DRI had received secret information that buying and selling of foreign gold is carried out on a large scale in this store. During the raid, the team detained Ramkumar Gupta and took him away for interrogation.
Krishna Gupta’s shop was sealed. When DRI officials were asked for information about the raid, they refused to give any statement. However, according to sources, other cases related to gold smuggling abroad are being investigated and many more big names could come to light.
