Ekadashi Fast Rules 2024: The Ekadashi fast has a special significance in the Hindu religion. It is believed that by fasting on Ekadashi, one receives special blessings from Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi. By fasting on Ekadashi, all of the person’s sins are erased. Ekadashi fast is observed twice a month, once on Shukla Paksha and once on Krishna Paksha. Both Ekadashi have a special meaning. When can you start Ekadashi quickly?
The best day to start Ekadashi fast is Utpanna Ekadashi in the month of Margashirsha. According to religious beliefs, Devi Ekadashi was born on the day of Utpanna Ekadashi. This is the reason why this day is considered the most auspicious day to begin the Ekadashi fast. This year the Utpanna Ekadashi fast will be observed on November 26, 2024.
Ekadashi Fasting Rules
- Do not consume anything made with rice on the day of Ekadashi.
- Eat only satvika food a day before Ekadasi. Stay away from vengeful things.
- On the fasting day of Ekadashi, methodically worship Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi.
- On the day of Ekadashi, offer Panchamrit, yellow flowers, banana, seasonal fruits, sweets and basil to Lord Vishnu.
- Apart from rice, the consumption of lentils, eggplants, carrots, turnips, spinach, cabbage, etc. It is prohibited during the Ekadashi fast.
- Read the story of Ekadashi quickly and also chant the mantra ‘Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay’.
- He breaks the Ekadashi fast on the second day only on Dwadashi tithi.
