Only a few days are left for the assembly elections in Maharashtra. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde attacked Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, saying that he had entered into an alliance with the Congress only to become Chief Minister. Shinde said, “Bala Saheb Thackeray used to say that Congress must be kept away.”

Speaking to news agency ANI, Eknath Shinde said, ‘When the Maha Vikas Aghadi government was in the state, I was also in it. But that government was against the ideas of Balasaheb Thackeray. I explained a lot of things to Uddhav Thackeray, but he formed an alliance with the Congress to become Chief Minister.

‘Bala Saheb used to say: stay away from Congress’

He said, ‘Bala Saheb Thackeray used to say keep Congress away. Our party was suffering losses, our party was on the verge of collapse, that’s why we overthrew the government and formed the Shiv Sena BJP alliance government. In the last two years we worked for the public.

Regarding the Lok Sabha elections and the CM’s face, Shinde said, ‘The percentage of votes in the Lok Sabha elections went towards the Shiv Sena. The same will also happen in these elections. I am currently the team leader. Our team is working. Everyone on our team is equal. Our goal is to form a grand coalition government and develop the state.

“The Government will go to the root of the murder”

On questions raised about law and order after the assassination of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, he said: ‘It is the responsibility of the government to maintain law and order. The incident was very unfortunate. Many accused are involved in the incident. Many have been arrested. The government and the Home Office will get to the root of this problem. No one involved in this will be spared.

‘We do not consider anyone weak’

Regarding the Baramati and Worli assembly seats, Shinde said, ‘Elections are being contested as elections. We do not consider anyone weak. The public decides who will win and who will lose. Wherever elections are held, we will present ourselves to the public on the basis of our work. We work on the development agenda. We do not spread false narratives.

‘The sisters will teach them a lesson’

On Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Arvind Sawant’s comment on Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC, he said, ‘This is a very unfortunate thing. It is very condemnable to say things like that about a sister. This is its nature. In Guwahati he had also defamed our sisters in the same way. Now all the sisters will teach them a lesson in the next elections.
