New Delhi: Taking cognizance of the complaints lodged against each other by the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress, the Election Commission has issued notices to both the political parties seeking their response. The Boat Commission has taken cognizance of the complaints lodged during the ongoing assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. The Election Commission sent separate letters to Bharatiya Janata Party president JP Nadda and Congress president Mallikarjan Kharge and asked them to respond on the entire matter.
In the letter written to Mallikarjun Kharge, the Election Commission mentions the complaint filed by the BJP on November 11. The complaint alleged violation of electoral code of conduct by senior Congress activists during the campaign for the Jharkhand and Maharashtra assembly elections and by-elections.
Similarly, in the letter written to JP Nadda, the Election Commission mentioned two complaints filed by the Congress on November 13, alleging violation of the Model Code of Conduct by senior BJP activists during the election campaign. Both party presidents have been asked to submit formal responses by 1pm on Monday.
