Air Pollution: Every year 21 lakh people in India die due to poisonous air.

Deadly Air Pollution, (Aaj Samaj), New Delhi/Lucknow: Due to poisoned air, human deaths continue in the country. According to a report, 21 lakh people die every year in India due to poisonous air. Deaths are happening. Among the five main causes of the rising number of deaths in the country, air pollution, called a silent disaster, ranks second. High blood pressure (heart disease) is the leading cause of death in India. The other three causes include cancer, tobacco and diabetes.

Kalpana Balakrishnan expressed deep concern over the deaths.

The country’s top scientist Kalpana Balakrishnan, who works with the World Health Organization (WHO) in Chennai, has expressed deep concern over deaths due to air pollution. Dr. Kalpana Balakrishnan’s research and reports on air pollution have been published in many prestigious journals around the world, including Lancet and New England Journal. A conference was organized this Wednesday at the Indian Institute of Toxicological Research (IITR) in Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh, in which Dr. Kalpana Balakrishnan was also present.

The age of people is also decreasing.

Expressing concern over the increasing air pollution in India, he also said that not only are people dying due to air pollution, it is also reducing the life expectancy of people and is also affecting their ability to work. He said various scientific researches, reports by IQ-Air and State of Global Air claim that 21 lakh people die every year in India due to air pollution related diseases.

The age has begun to decrease by 2 to 3 percent.

Dr Kalpana said that due to the effect of polluted i.e. poisonous air, the life expectancy of people has started decreasing by two to three per cent. The elderly and children are the most affected by air pollution. Scientific imagination claims that India ranks third among the 10 most polluted countries in the world. Due to increasingly poisonous air, changes in weather and climate change are occurring. This is also the main reason for the rise in global temperature. Every year the heat increases in the country and the world. Not only this, the rains are also becoming heavy and it is also very cold. Unseasonal rain and cold weather have become common.

The air in rural areas is also polluted

Dr Kalpana attributed the increasing number of vehicles, industries, furnaces, smoke and dust as the main reasons for increasing air pollution in cities. He also said that it is an illusion that the air in rural areas is completely clean. Even today, a large number of economically weaker rural sections cook their food by burning firewood, etc., and because of this the air in the villages is not clean. Dr Kalpana said that the Modi central government’s Ujjwala scheme has proven to be better, but due to villagers burning wood etc., it is still insufficient to reduce pollution, so both the government and those responsible for the Policies should seriously consider it. be discussed.
