Bhubaneswar. Naveen Patnak’s party, BJD, is on a different path from the central government when it comes to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. They allege that Muslims were not consulted before introducing the bill. The party also organized a rally in Odisha on November 24 demanding withdrawal of the bill, in which protesters raised slogans demanding withdrawal of the bill. They claim that this (the bill) will affect harmony among the community. This demand was raised by the BJD at a time when opposition members included in the Joint Parliamentary Committee formed for the Waqf Amendment Bill were demanding more time to deliberate on the bill.
The Lok Sabha Speaker has extended the mandate of the CPM Committee till the last day of the entire winter session. Although the JPC report will be presented in the winter session, JPC president Jagdambika Pal says the report is ready. The minority cell of the BJD organized a rally near Raj Bhavan on Sunday. The protesters also submitted a memorandum to President Draupadi Murmu through the Khurda District Collector, making some suggestions and expressing concern over the proposed amendments to the Waqf Act, 1995. “We urge that this bill be withdrawn and that broader consultations be carried out with stakeholders to address their concerns before any amendments are tabled in Parliament,” the memo said. New Delhi. The Center issued a fresh five-year ban against the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, saying the group was involved in 16 cases of planting explosives during 2019- 24. Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) in Assam ahead of Independence Day 2024.
So far, the Center has signed 12 tripartite agreements between the Centre, states and northeastern insurgent groups including Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland, while the anti-talks faction of the ULFA, also known as ULFA, is in talks for the peace process remains elusive. - Supreme Court rejected the petition

New Delhi. The Supreme Court has rejected the plea to conduct voting through ballot papers instead of EVMs during elections in India. Justice Vikram Nath said that when Chandrababu Naidu or Reddy lose, they say that the EVMs have been manipulated, but when they win they do not say anything, after this the Supreme Court said that it is rejecting the petition.
The petitioner said: I have seen the mafia in the recent elections. I have seen evidence in the PIL filed by Swamy that the MLAs came in and broke the EVMs. 180 countries and all democracies in the world have ever used EVMs, Elon Musk clearly stated that EVMs can be manipulated, other prayers in the petition include disqualification of candidates who indulged in corruption in elections.
