Facts originally verified by PTI: These days, a video and photo of a broken bridge is going viral on social media. When users share it, they claim that it is the Gujarat metro bridge, which recently collapsed. People are targeting the state government through this post.
In such a situation, this statement was found misleading in PTI Fact Check. The investigation revealed that the viral picture is not recent but from October 2023. At that time, a part of the bridge under construction in Palanpur, Gujarat, had collapsed, causing one person to be crushed to death. Users are now sharing this old image with a false claim.

On November 20, a user on Facebook shared the photo of the broken bridge describing its condition and wrote in his caption: “Look what is the condition of the metro bridge in Gujarat… with what force it was built… this bridge is It’s going to collapse.” It hasn’t taken time. According to the report published on the ABP News website, this incident took place in Palanpur town of Banaskantha district of Gujarat where one person died after 6 concrete slabs of the pillars of an under-construction bridge fell near the RTO checkpoint. We received some media reports that during the metro construction work in Surat, Gujarat in the month of August, a crane had fallen on a nearby building. However, no one was injured in this incident.
