On Saturday, unknown gunmen carried out two major incidents in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. In two separate incidents, at least 16 soldiers, including an army officer, were injured when unidentified gunmen ambushed a security force convoy.
Eleven security personnel were injured when gunmen attacked their convoy in Sarwekai area of South Waziristan district, PTI reported. He said that among the injured there was also an officer with the rank of Captain.
Five soldiers injured in attack on checkpoint
In another attack near the Darra Tung checkpoint in the volatile Lakki Marwat district, gunmen attacked a convoy of security forces traveling from Karak district to a nuclear power project in Kabul Khel. In this attack 5 soldiers were injured. Bannu, Lakkimarwat, Waziristan and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province have increasingly come under terrorist attacks on security forces, including police, Frontier Corps (FC) and Pakistan Army, in recent weeks.
PTI prepares for a large demonstration in the area on November 9
The attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province comes at a time when Imran Khan’s PTI party on November 9 announced a massive rally of supporters calling for a final protest against the ruling federal government.
Addressing reporters after meeting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party founder Khan at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Ali Amin Gandapur said he was tired of remaining peaceful in the face of the heavy hand of the government.
