The main theme of this summit organized in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro is solidarity against hunger. Speaking at the first session of the conference, Prime Minister Modi congratulated the President of Brazil. The Prime Minister affirmed that Brazil has promoted the New Delhi Summit under his presidency.

Addressing the session, Modi said that in the last 10 years, 10 million people in India have come out of poverty. More than 80 million people have been provided free rations. 55 million people were linked to the health insurance plan. Referring to the numerous schemes being implemented in the country, the prime minister said that the government is making serious efforts to combat poverty.

Consider the Global South

Referring to the Global South in his speech, the Prime Minister said that the Global South is the most affected by the food, fuel and fertilizer crisis due to global conflicts. Therefore, we must work with the challenges and priorities of the Global South in mind.
