Voting for assembly elections in Maharashtra will be held on November 20 in all seats. In view of this, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, at an election rally held in Thane city on Sunday, strongly rejected the Congress’ allegations that the BJP is planning to change the Constitution.
What did he say about the modification of the Constitution?
Gadkari said the Congress had amended the Constitution during the 1975 Emergency, but was now making false allegations that the BJP was making efforts to destroy the Constitution. Gadkari further said, “No government can change the fundamental features of the Constitution. In fact, those amendments were revoked by the Janata Party government after the Emergency.” The minister clarified that the BJP’s objective is to protect and develop the Constitution and the party is not taking any unconstitutional measures.
Prioritize development: BJP leader
Along with this, Gadkari reiterated his commitment to the government’s development plans. He said that in the context of rapid urbanization of the country, building sustainable infrastructure is the priority of his government, so that the quality of life of the people can be improved. Gadkari appealed to voters to move beyond caste politics and prioritize development and elect representatives who work with a progressive approach. This statement comes after Congress leaders accused the BJP of destroying the Constitution, especially in the backdrop of statements by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and other party leaders.
