A fire department official said the incident took place around 6 am on the second floor of the Krishna Complex building located in Katargam area. He said seven people between the ages of 18 and 27 present in a small room in the building were injured and admitted to the hospital for treatment. A fire control room official said he received information in this regard at 6.18 am.

He further said that the fire was brought under control soon and extinguishing work was completed within an hour. The officer said police seized three gas cylinders from the spot.
