UP Mahoba Crime, (Aaj Samaj), Lucknow: In Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh, a girl in a love relationship committed suicide by consuming poison when the young man refused to marry her. According to police, the incident took place on Tuesday in an area under Srinagar police station. The deceased has been identified as Mamta Vishwakarma and was 21 years old. Mamta had reached the young man’s house.

Police said Mamta Vishwakarma of Nanuara village was in love with Golu Tamrakar of Manoharganj area and the two were in a relationship for some years. Golu Tamrakar is 25 years old. Police have said that Golu had allegedly rejected the marriage proposal of Mamta, a resident of Nanuara village.

Officials said that as per initial investigation, Mamta came to Golu’s house on Monday night this week and asked him to have a dispute. Golu refused to marry. After this there was an argument between the two and then Mamta ate something poisonous.

Police officials said when Mamta’s condition deteriorated after consuming a poisonous substance, Golu’s relatives took her to the district hospital. When the condition became serious, the girl was sent from the district hospital to Jhansi Medical College. During this time he died on the road. A case of abetment to suicide has been registered against Golu and his brother Akash. They have run away from home and the police are busy looking for them. Mamta’s brother had complained to the police.
