Kolkata: Indian Railways took a very sympathetic step when it helped a bride and groom traveling from Mumbai to Guwahati catch their train on time. The incident took place at Howrah railway station on Friday, when railway officials stopped the Saraighat Express for a few minutes to ensure that the Gitanjali Express from Mumbai reached Howrah station on time, so that the groom and his Relatives could board the train to Guwahati. train.
He had sought help from railway officials.
The matter came to light when Chandrashekhar Wagh, a relative of the groom, posted on social media platform ‘X’ and sought help from railway officials. Wagh said he was traveling on the Mumbai-Howrah Geetanjali Express, which was a little late. Wagh feared that upon reaching Howrah he would not be able to take the Assam-bound Saraighat Express, which was scheduled to depart Howrah at 4:00 pm.
After this, on the basis of Chandrashekhar’s position, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Howrah received necessary instructions from the senior officials of the Indian Railways. Railway officials took immediate action and stopped the Saraighat Express for a few minutes. Furthermore, the Gitanjali Express was ordered to reach Howrah station at high speed.
Saraighat Express left for Guwahati
Gitanjali Express reached Howrah at 4:08 pm and then the officials, with the help of battery-powered vehicles, transported the wedding processions from platform number 24 to platform number 9, where Saraighat Express was located. After the wedding guests boarded the train, Saraighat Express was sent to Guwahati, which left for Guwahati with a delay of a few minutes.

A senior Eastern Railway official said, “We expect cooperation and understanding from the passengers of both the trains and the Railways made every effort to ensure that the groom could reach his wedding on time.” The officer also said, “It is our moral responsibility to provide that help.”
Giving information about this incident on its official social media handles, Eastern Railway also wrote: “Indian Railways stopped the Saraighat Express at Howrah Railway Station for a few minutes, so that the groom and the wedding procession coming from the Gitanjali Express could head to Guwahati.
