Chandīgarh: The Naib Singh Saini-led Haryana government will donate 100 square meter plots to low-income people. With this government scheme, the dream of two lakh people of owning their own house will soon come true. In an official statement on Tuesday, it was said that the government led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is preparing the blueprint of this plan.

Plots of 100 square meters available in towns

Under this initiative, eligible landless applicants will get 100 square meter plots in villages. Five lakh people have applied for plots in the state under the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme. Eligible beneficiaries will be given 100 square yard plots in different phases, the statement said. Two lakh people will soon get their benefits.

Housing Department Director General J. Ganesan said the main objective of the rural housing scheme is to provide land to low-income families who do not have their own house. Successful implementation of the plan will improve the standard of living of poor families, enabling them to live a safe and dignified life in their homes.

CM Saini had a meeting last week

During the meeting, Ganesan also told officials that all processes related to the scheme should be expedited to ensure that eligible people get their benefits at the earliest. Last week, Chief Minister Saini held a meeting with senior officials in which Development and Panchayat Minister Krishna Lal Panwar and Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goyal were also present.

These facilities will also be available

In the meeting, the Chief Minister directed that in the areas where 100 sq yard plots will be allotted, all necessary facilities like paved roads, electricity, drinking water, street lighting, parks and green open spaces should be ensured. According to the official statement, the government has also planned to provide assistance to the beneficiaries in constructing houses on these 100 square meter plots. Financial assistance will be provided under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) to help the beneficiaries construct their own houses.

During the meeting chaired by Ganesan, officials informed that 6,618 flats constructed by private developers for EWS category will soon be allotted to applicants registered under the Chief Minister’s Urban Housing Scheme in eight districts in the first phase.
