Govardhan Puja 2024 Shubh Muhurat Timings: Today is the festival of Govardhan. In Govardhan Puja, Gau Dhan i.e. cows are worshiped and cows are also said to be the form of Goddess Lakshmi. It is also known as Annakoot. Lord Krishna and Govardhan mountain are mainly worshiped on this day.
According to mythological belief, on this day Lord Shri Krishna saved the people of Braj from the wrath of Lord Indra by lifting the Govardhan mountain with his little finger. According to the Hindu calendar, Govardhan Puja is celebrated on the Pratipada date of the Shukla Paksha month of the Kartik month. The date of Govardhan Puja will start on 1st November i.e. today at 6:16 pm and will end on 2nd November i.e. tomorrow night at 8:21 pm
Today will be the three most auspicious days for Govardhan Puja. A Muhurta will last from 6:34 am to 8:46 am. The second Muhurta will be from 3:23 p.m. to 5:35 p.m. and the third Muhurta will be from 5:35 p.m. to 6:01 p.m.
Govardhan Puja Method
On this day, get up in the morning, massage your body with oil and then take a bath. Then make the shape of Govardhan mountain with cow dung at the main entrance of the house. Make the shape of Govardhan mountain with cow dung, cowherd boy and nearby trees and plants. Install the idol of Lord Shri Krishna in the middle of the Govardhan mountain. Then, offer them Annakoot. How to offer Annakoot?
The method of worshiping Lord Varun and Agni has been described in the Vedas and Puranas. On this day, cows are decorated and Aarti is performed and they are fed fruits, flowers, sweets etc. After this, the shape of Govardhan mountain is made from cow dung.
