The Manipur government on Tuesday announced indefinite extension of closure of all schools and colleges in districts where curfew is in force from November 27. After this order, educational institutions in Imphal East and West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching and Jiribam will remain closed from Wednesday until further order. We inform that after the Imphal Valley Coordination Committee of Civil Society Organizations Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) took the decision to keep state and central government offices closed for 2 days from Wednesday, it was announced to keep all educational institutions.
Directorate of Education issued order
In its order issued by the Directorate of Education, it said, “All state government schools and government-aided private and central schools located in the valley districts shall remain closed from November 27, 2024 until further order.” At the same time, another order said that “government educational institutions, government-aided universities under the Department of Higher and Technical Education, including state universities located in the districts where curfew has been imposed, shall remain closed until further notice.” order”.
Relaxation has occurred.
It may be noted that earlier, as per the orders issued by the district magistrates, the curfew has been relaxed from 5 am to 12 noon in the five districts of the valley and in Jiribam to allow people to purchase essential commodities and medicines. . However, the orders said that during the relaxation period, protests, rallies and gatherings will not be allowed without obtaining prior approval from the competent authority.
We reported that schools and colleges have been closed in these districts since November 16 after the bodies of three women and three children were found in Jiribam, near the Jiri and Barak rivers in Manipur and Assam.
