In college, cases of teasing in the name of former students teasing new students often come to light. The elders, in the name of pranks, harass the new students so much that sometimes the consequences are very bad. Now, such an incident has come to light in Gujarat, where in the name of irregularity, a first year MBBS student was harassed so much by his seniors that he lost his life.

This case came to light at the Medical College of Medical Education and Research Society (GMERS) in Dharpur, Patan, Gujarat, where Anil Mathania, an 18-year-old first-year student, was forced to stand by his superiors for 3 hours. About 7-8 senior students asked late Anil to introduce them all separately, but when Anil’s tolerance limit crossed after standing for more than 3 hours, he fell unconscious.

15 seniors suspended from university

After this, his fellow students admitted Anil to the hospital and Anil died during treatment. After this, Anil’s family members were informed. Action was taken against the students who harassed Anil in the university in the name of irregularity and 15 final year students were suspended from the university and an FIR was also registered. Anil’s brother has demanded justice.

Scored 550 marks in NEET

The deceased Anil was a first-year MBBS student, who had joined the university in September but died a few days later. After Anil’s death, the family members are in bad condition, they lost him barely a month after coming to drop him off at college on October 14. Anil had scored 550 marks in NEET without coaching. Anil’s relatives said Anil was the only student from Jesda, a small village with a population of 5,000 in Dhrangadhra taluka of Surendranagar, to clear the All India Pre-Medical Entrance Examination.

NEET passed without training

He was the youngest of three brothers and the only son of farmer Narwar Bhai, 56, and Geetaben, 53. Anil’s cousin and IT professional Gautam Mathania said that in class 10, Anil had decided that he wanted to be a doctor. Anil was an excellent student. He did not take any coaching class but was cleared as NEET. He scored 550 marks in NEET and 90.57 per cent in GUJCET (Gujarat Common Entrance Test).

He died before reaching the hospital

Anil’s father said that if he had to sell his land to fulfill his son’s dreams, he would have sold it. He said: “We had spoken on November 16. He was absolutely fine when he was admitted to the university. Even then all his medical reports were correct. We continue talking to him. A resident doctor from MBBS college called me. He said Anil became unconscious and was admitted to the hospital. When we reached there around 4 in the morning, we came to know that Anil was no more.
