Gyanvapi Mosque

An important news related to the Gyanvapi controversy has come to light. The Supreme Court will hear this case on November 22. The Hindu side has filed a petition requesting the Supreme Court that the 15 cases related to this dispute be heard in the Allahabad High Court. It has been argued in the petition that hearing all the cases together will speed up the process.

Currently, 15 cases related to the Gyanvapi controversy are being heard in various courts of the Varanasi District Court. Apart from this, there are also some petitions pending in the Allahabad High Court. The petitioner claims that by concentrating all the cases in one place the hearing can be expedited. In this case, the Hindu side and the Muslim side have filed a petition before the Varanasi district court regarding their numerous demands. The Hindu side itself has filed several petitions before the district court regarding its various demands.

Petition requiring survey

Previously, on October 21, another case related to this dispute was known. Before the hearing, the Hindu side had filed a petition through petitioner Lakshmi Devi demanding a scientific study of the Gyanvapi complex. On October 19, Justice Rohit Ranjan heard a petition in the Allahabad High Court. During this time, the petitioner’s counsel filed a supplementary affidavit, in response to which the Muslim party also filed its own affidavit.

ASI survey in 2023

At the request of the Hindu side, the ASI survey of the Gyanvapi complex was carried out between July 24 and November 2, 2023. However, this survey was not carried out in the Vajukhana area, where Shivling was allegedly found . The Hindu side says a study of Vajukhana is necessary to clarify the religious nature of the complex. The Hindu side also claims that the current mosque was built by demolishing a temple.
