Hamas again dealt a blow to Israel’s hopes and rejected the ceasefire agreement.

Ahead of the US election, talks on the Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal have intensified once again. The United States and its mediators have presented a proposal to Hamas-Israel, which includes the release of hostages with a ceasefire of a few days in Gaza. Israel reportedly showed a positive attitude toward this proposal, while there were signs of a lack of confidence in it on the part of Hamas.

Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri told Qatari news channel ‘Al Jazeera’ that the ceasefire proposal presented in the resolution does not meet their demands. He said Hamas would not accept a temporary ceasefire in exchange for the release of Israeli prisoners in Gaza because after this Israel would resume its bombing.

Ceasefire talks held in Qatar

This week, the head of Israel’s Mossad and the director of the CIA participated in ceasefire talks held in the capital of Qatar. This was the first high-level meeting after the failure of ceasefire efforts in August.

Hamas holds around 100 Israeli hostages in Gaza, the prisoners’ families continually pressure the Israeli government to cease fire and release their relatives. Demonstrations along these lines are held every day in the major cities of Israel. But Israel has not yet agreed to a permanent ceasefire.

Hamas does not believe

In the new ceasefire agreement, it has not been made public how long this ceasefire will last. Last month, Egyptian President Sisi proposed a four-day ceasefire, which included the release of four hostages. At that time he said that with this ceasefire the outline of a permanent ceasefire would be drawn up. Hamas is not willing to sign any temporary agreement because it believes Israel will start attacks again after the release of the hostages and after the elections in the United States.
