In the latest update of the ICC T20I player rankings, Hardik Pandya regained his top position among T20I all-rounders. Meanwhile, young star Tilak Verma has risen 69 places to reach the third position in the batsmen’s rankings.
Pandya’s recent performance in India’s series against South Africa played a crucial role in his rise. The 31-year-old demonstrated his skills with both bat and ball and secured the top spot, leaving England’s Liam Livingstone and Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airi behind. One of his notable contributions was his unbeaten 39 in the second match of the four-match series, which stabilized India’s innings. Furthermore, his impressive bowling figures of 1/8 in three overs during the fourth decider contributed to India’s 3-1 series victory.
This is the second time that Pandya has achieved the number one spot among T20I all-rounders. He reached this ranking for the first time after his consistent performances at the end of this year’s ICC T20 World Cup.
Tilak Verma’s rise in the rankings was another important achievement. As player of the series against South Africa, Verma scored 280 runs, including two centuries, taking him to third place in the T20I batsmen’s list. Now he is only behind the best ranked Travis Head and the Englishman Phil Salt. With Verma’s rise, India captain Suryakumar Yadav fell to fourth place.
Another prominent player, Sanju Samson, also saw a rise in his ranking during the series. His two centuries against South Africa saw him rise 17 places to 22nd among T20I batsmen.
India’s Arshdeep Singh’s bowling ranking has improved. He rose three places to reach ninth position, the best of his career. Australian bowlers Adam Zampa and Nathan Ellis also moved up in the new T20I rankings.
