Chandigarh News (Aaj Samaj) Chandigarh: Dr Sumita Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary, Food and Supplies Department, held a meeting with officials of agencies related to foodgrain storage. In the meeting, FCI CMD Vanita Ratan Sharma from Delhi, Director General of Haryana Warehouse Corporation and Director General of Information, Public Relations and Languages ​​Department KM Pandurang, HAFED Director General J Ganesan, FCI Haryana director general Sharandeep Kaur Brar and Anita Kharb, deputy director of Food and Supplies Department, including officials from procurement agencies, were present in the meeting. The meeting mainly discussed the CMR rice storage facility. In which the FCI informed the Haryana government about the need for space to store around 16 lakh MT of rice. Of which, adequate space was found in the warehouses to store 12 lakh 55 thousand MT of rice.

Apart from this, issues such as pending payment to FCI, period indicated for storage of grains in warehouses and transportation charges borne by FCI in transfer of wheat between districts were also discussed. Dr Sumita Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary, Food and Supplies Department, said that appropriate measures should be taken in time for storage of CMR rice from paddy fields procured in the current season. The FCI has told the Haryana government of the need for warehouses to store 16 lakh MT of rice.

Of the warehouses secured under this requirement, the FCI has found suitable warehouses to store around 12.55 lakh MT of rice. That is why officials must assemble the necessary storage facilities in warehouses located in all these places until the end of next December. So when millers deliver rice to FCI, there is no problem in its storage. For this, any tender work etc. must be completed on time. Complete all work, from repairs to obtaining approvals on time.

Wheat and rice will be removed from warehouses as soon as possible

In the meeting it was decided that the FCI will quickly ensure the work of lifting the wheat currently stored in the warehouses. He said the state government will provide identified supplies to FCI and provide all possible support for rice storage for CMR. All repairs will be completed on time. He said that during the wheat season, the FCI will prepare a plan to ensure direct lifting of mandis whenever necessary during the season. FCI officials will get wheat and rice removed from Haryana warehouses at the earliest.
