The name of the opposition leader could be announced on November 24.
Chandigarh News (Aaj Samaj) Chandigarh: The Congress has almost chosen the name of the opposition leader in the Haryana Assembly. Only the name is yet to be announced. According to information received from sources, Congress will announce the name of the opposition leader on November 24. The name of the MLA whose name is considered almost final for Leader of the Opposition is Raghubir Kadian. Raghubir Kadian is the MP from Beri constituency. He has become an MLA for the sixth consecutive time. In view of the current factionalism in the Congress, the high command has gone for Raghubir Kadian’s name.
Earlier, the names of Bhupendra Singh Hooda, Thanesar MLA Ashok Arora and former deputy CM Chandramohan Bishnoi were also under discussion. But Hooda supporter Raghubir Kadian’s claim is now considered to be the strongest. It is noteworthy that since the results of the Assembly elections were declared on October 8, there is a dispute in Congress for the position of opposition leader. This is the first time in the history of the Haryana Assembly that the House debates were held without the leader of the opposition. The BJP has also targeted the Congress for the delay in selecting the opposition leader.
Why was the claim weakened?
There are many reasons for the weakening candidacy of former CMs Bhupendra Singh Hooda, Ashok Arora and Chandramohan Bishnoi. The Congress has lost three elections under the leadership of the former CM. There is opposition within the party regarding Hooda. Ashok Arora has become a first-time MLA on the Congress ticket. Before this he was at the INLD. While in INLD, he remained vice president and minister. Chandramohan Bishnoi’s brother Kuldeep Bishnoi is in BJP.
