Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana was inaugurated in the year 2024-25 under the Housing for All department established by the present government.
Under this scheme, a state-level program was organized on June 10, 2024, in which possession certificates of the allotted plots were also distributed to around 7,000 beneficiaries and necessary steps are being taken to grant possession of the allotted plots. to other eligible beneficiaries at the earliest. Panwar further said that many beneficiaries could not be allotted plots under the Mahatma Gandhi Gramin Basti Yojana, keeping this in mind, Housing for All launched the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Expansion Scheme, under which housing needs are met of landless rural families. To complete this, residential plots of 50 sq. varas/100 sq. varas will be provided to them. To implement this scheme at a rapid pace, around 1,000 gram panchayats have been identified in the first phase and these panchayats have also passed the proposal to the state government to cut off plots of panchayat land for eligible families.

He said that as far as provision of basic facilities like electricity, water, roads, streets and drains are concerned in the colonies established under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Settlement Scheme, the government is continuously and actively working for it. Under the rule of Mahatma Gandhi Gramin Basti Yojana, around 4,573 colonies were built and in around 2,250 colonies where settlements were started, basic facilities were also provided. In the last ten years, a budget of approximately Rs 320.50 crore has been allocated for this scheme. Of this budget, around Rs 94.50 million have been allocated to the Electricity Department and around Rs 66 million to the Public Health Department to provide basic facilities.
A special task force was formed at the block level.
The Minister of Development and Panchayat informed that to further intensify these efforts of the government, a special task force has also been formed at the block level in 2022-23. The task force is headed by block and panchayat development officials and includes sub-divisional officials from public health, panchayat raj and electricity departments. The main function of this special task force is to inspect these colonies, identify areas where basic facilities are lacking and provide recommendations through the Chief Executive Officer of the District Council.
In this, priority is given to those colonies where sufficient population has settled, and guidelines have been issued on several occasions to activate this special task force. Giving information about Sirsa district, Panwar said that 269 settlements have been established under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Settlements Scheme, of which basic facilities have been provided in 113 settlements and facilities are being provided in 156 settlements.
