(Jind News) Jind. The Haryanvi song Heer Ranjha was performed in Shamdo village under the joint auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and On Theater Group. In which village, Sarpanch representative Bindra Sharma was the chief guest. He said that songs have been a part of our tradition and at some point this entertainment and social cooperation also served the purpose of social upliftment.

Our disappearing culture can be saved through farce. These should be organized for the coming generations so that they can understand our cultural tradition. The song was directed by Rishi Kapoor. Rishi Kapoor said that the song was presented in a folk style and folk music was used in the Ragni singing of the song and at some places classical singing was also used. Among the artistes of the song were Sutradhar singers Samandar Lal, Krishna Lal alias Leela Ram. Rishi Kapoor said that Heer Ranjha’s story tells the world that there is nothing greater than love for a human being. If love is recognized, then an emperor can even abandon his throne and become a monk. Ranjha was the son of a prosperous family from Takht Hazare village. He was his parents’ favorite.

There was discussion everywhere about the beauty of the Heer of Sial clan. Although Ranjha was his father’s favorite as he was the youngest of the four brothers, he left home due to discrimination from his brothers-in-law. His destiny led him astray to Sial. It was here that he saw Heer for the first time and fell in love with her. He started working in Heer’s father’s house, taking care of and herding buffaloes.

Heer had also fallen in love with him. Twelve years have passed since their love. Separation was added to this love story when Heer married Saida Kheda. Ranjha could not bear this separation, he took initiation from Gorakhnath and became a monk. He continued wandering separately from Heer and one day fate took him to Heer’s in-laws’ house. Here Heer was poisoned and Ranjhe also died due to their separation. He said that Haryanvi culture has been shown in popular drama. The audience liked the folk music, folk costumes and Haryanvi accent in the play.
