A Hindu pilgrim who was going to attend Guru Nanak Jayanti was shot dead in Nankana, Pakistan. Pakistan police said on Friday that a Hindu pilgrim who was going to attend celebrations organized at Nankana Sahib on the 555th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev was shot dead by robbers.
According to the police, Rajesh Kumar, a native of Larkana city in Sindh province, was on his way from Lahore to Nankana Sahib by car. His friends and a family member were also with him.
He said three robbers blocked his way on the Mananwala-Nankana Sahib road, about 60 kilometers from Lahore. The gunmen snatched Pakistani rupees 450,000 from the three and Pakistani rupees 10,000 from the driver. When Kumar protested, the robbers opened fire on him and fled.

The incident is said to have occurred on Wednesday night. After the robbery and shooting incident, Kumar was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he died on Thursday. Police further said that following the complaint of Rajesh Kumar’s brother-in-law, a case has been registered against unknown persons under relevant sections of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
It is noteworthy that the main birth anniversary program of Sikh Guru Sri Guru Nanak was organized on Friday at Gurdwara Janmasthan Nankana Sahib, in which over 2,500 Sikhs from India and a large number of other local and foreign pilgrims participated.
