A case has been registered against five people from the same family for allegedly abetting the suicide of a 32-year-old accountant in Deonar, Mumbai, Maharashtra. A police officer gave this information on Monday.
Sandeep Kumar Paswan ended his life on Sunday allegedly due to financial fraud, false allegations of abuse and harassment by the accused, an official said.
Police said the deceased was a resident of Jharkhand and worked as an accountant in a company in Bhandup. He met a girl with whom he began a relationship. As the relationship progressed, the girl borrowed a total of Rs 12.5 lakh from him. But as soon as the relationship between the two turned sour, things began to change. The girl returned only Rs 7 lakh and filed a case of sexual exploitation against Sandeep.
Currently, a case has been initiated against the woman and her four relatives following a complaint from the deceased’s brother. The case is being investigated.
This is not the first case of its kind, but people often take measures such as suicide due to losing money in a relationship or out of stupidity. A similar case recently came to light in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Here a person who was a victim of online fraud was found dead in a hotel.
Police said initial investigation revealed that the person had lost Rs 60 lakh after falling into the trap of cyber bullies. He was now found dead in the hotel room and the case is suspected to be a suicide. According to hotel staff, he arrived at the hotel on the night of September 3, but did not leave the room afterward. Then the door opened with the master key.
