Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday warned that houses of those harboring terrorists will be razed. He called on the people to show solidarity against those responsible for terrorism. He said if the security forces, the Union Territory administration and the people come together, terrorism can be eliminated from the area within a year.
The guilty will not be spared
Addressing an event organized in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, the lieutenant governor said, ‘I have ordered the security forces not to harm any innocent, but the guilty will not be spared. If someone shelters terrorists, their house will be razed. There will be no commitment in this regard. Sinha said some people claim that those who harbor terrorists are being tortured. “However, these are not atrocities but a demand for justice and that justice will continue,” he said.
The neighboring country tries to generate unrest
Lt Governor Sinha said, “Our neighbor is trying to spread unrest but this does not worry us, rather people here are doing it on their instructions, it is a matter of concern.” Identifying these people is not only the task of the security forces and the administration, but also of the people.
Calling on people to oppose terrorism
He said that if people give shelter to terrorists and then say that we are doing injustice to them, then it is not right. Sinha called on the people of Jammu and Kashmir to oppose terrorism and asked those present whether anyone has the right to kill people working to improve connectivity in the region.
Major terrorist attack in Ganderbal on October 20
Manoj Sinha was referring to the murder of a local doctor and six migrant workers by terrorists on October 20 at a tunnel construction site in Gagangir area of Ganderbal district. The Lt Governor said: ‘If people do not oppose these elements, this situation will never change. I think that those who make statements just for formality are worse than them (terrorists). His comment came amid rising incidents of terrorism in the valley.
