A new list of philanthropists has arrived from India, in which a businessman and his family have donated the most money. This has been revealed in the Hurun India 2024 list. In which the names of the top 10 philanthropists of India are given. Even giants like Tata and Ambani are lagging behind in this. Mukesh Ambani and his family are second in terms of donations.

This person is the greatest philanthropist of India.
According to Hurun India Philanthropy List, Shiv Nadar and his family achieved this position for the third time in five years and remain at the top of the list. He has donated Rs 2,153 crore. In second place are Mukesh Ambani and his family, Bajaj family, Kumar Mangalam Birla family, Gautam Adani and his family. All of them together have donated Rs 4,625 crore in FY2024.

Donation of 5.9 million rupees every day.
According to the list, HCL founder Shiv Nadar (79) has donated 5 percent more assets than in fiscal 2023. The Shiv Nadar Foundation was established in 1994 and focuses on education, arts and culture . If we calculate the average of his daily donations, Nadar has donated 5.9 million rupees per day.

How much did Mukesh Ambani donate?
Reliance Industries owner Mukesh Ambani (67) has donated Rs 407 crore, which is second on the list. The Bajaj family has donated Rs 352 crore and has moved up three places to number 3, with a 33 per cent increase in their donated wealth. That means this family has donated a 33 percent larger amount in fiscal year 2024.

Gautam Adani donated a lot
According to Edelgive-Hurun India, Kumar Mangalam Birla (57) has donated Rs 334 million and is ranked fourth. Billionaire Gautam Adani (62) has made a charitable contribution of Rs 330 million (Gautam Adani donation), which is ranked number 5 on the list. The amount donated by them has increased by more than 16 percent compared to the 2023 financial year.

This businessman is at number 10.
Infosys’ Nandan Nilekani (69) ranked sixth in the list with a donation of Rs 307 crore, an increase of 62 per cent compared to last year. His wife Rohini Nilekani (65) is the most generous woman on the list with donations of Rs 154 million and is ranked 10th in the list of top 10 philanthropists. Rohini Nilekani is the Co-Founder and Director of Onestep.

Businessman joining the list for the first time
Indo MIM president Krishna Chivukula, 52, has been included for the first time in the Hurun India Philanthropy List 2024. Chivukula secured the seventh position by donating Rs 228 crore to IIT Madras. His contribution is the largest in the history of the institute. At number 8 is Anil Aggarwal and his family, who have donated Rs 181 crore through Vedanta’s philanthropic and CSR arm, the Anil Aggarwal Foundation. At number 9 are Susmita and Subroto Bagchi, who have contributed Rs 179 million. He established the Bagchi School of Public Health at Ahmedabad University in 2023 to revolutionize public health education and research in the country.

The number of donors is increasing enormously
Anas Rehman Junaid, founder and chief researcher at Hurun India, said the threshold to enter India’s top 10 philanthropists has doubled, now reaching Rs 154 crore, from Rs 83 crore five years ago. Furthermore, the number of people who donated more than 100 million rupees increased to 18, compared to just 9 in 2019. This number of people donating 100 million rupees is impressive because China, which has almost twice as many billionaires and five times India’s GDP, has 25 philanthropists donating more than Rs 100 crore.
