Jagdalpur: After the crushing defeat in the Maharashtra elections, the blame now lies with the EVMs and the demand for ballot voting is gaining momentum. In this context, a senior Congress leader said that if voting is not done through separate ballots, Congress will not participate in the elections. This statement has been made by senior Congress leader and former Chhattisgarh minister Kawasi Lakhma. He said on Wednesday that his party will not participate in the upcoming elections if the voting system is not resumed.

Speaking to reporters in Jagdalpur, the state’s Bastar district headquarters, Lakhma said his party will protest demanding the use of the voting system. Lakhma said, “The Congress Party will not participate in the upcoming elections unless they are conducted through ballot papers.” Congress will talk to all alliance partners (‘India’ bloc) and protest.

He said, “All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge ji made a statement yesterday. Now there will be meetings (with alliance partners). The Lok Sabha session is currently going on. After the meeting with the alliance partners “India” an additional strategy will be prepared. Congress has decided to launch a big movement.

Kharge on Tuesday criticized the electronic voting system and demanded the return of the ballot system used earlier for elections.
